CSR

Following Nigeria's worst flood disaster in over a decade, which claimed 603 lives and displaced over 1.3 million individuals, IJGB partnered with Octa to provide crucial aid to the affected communities. We aimed to deliver meaningful assistance that would have a lasting impact, avoiding mere token gestures. Through collaboration with two NGOs, we focused our efforts on delivering post-flood relief to the stricken areas of the Bayelsa and Anambra states.

Challenge

The devastating flood wreaked havoc on properties and businesses, leaving many struggling to rebuild their lives. As the floodwaters receded, the affected communities faced the daunting task of rebuilding, with many lacking guidance on how to move forward.

Solution

We created a post-flood relief fund for small businesses and provided farm seedlings for farmers in the region. Octa gave funds and produce to people following on-the-ground interviews with partners who could access their needs.

Results

One hundred seven individuals, comprising 62 farmers and 42 small business owners, were boosted to start again in Bayelsa. In Anambra, we contributed to rebuilding furniture and installing partitions at Anam New Nursery and Primary School.
